Iāve been getting some code commits done for DSub - an opensource android music player for Airsonic/Subsonic. Iāve not touched android development for a few years and itās interesting how little has changed. Android Studio is a great bit of software, although some of its default keyboard shortcuts donāt do what you would expect.
The project needs a bit of modernising. Itāll be interesting to see if thereās scope to use Kotlin, as Java null checking is boring.
š¼Music
Sonās of Kemet were amazing at Koko. Theyāre an odd line up - 2 drummers, tuba and sax - but it really works in producing infectious rhythms and punch memorable hooks. It was also a really nice mixed crowd, although still very āGuardianā.
š Books
This week it was Malcolm Gladwellās Tipping Point. Gladwellās books are regularly on āmust readā lists but Iām not entirely sure why. He presents interesting insights, but as other reviewers have pointed out, this would probably have been better at about half the length.
